Somatic Experiencing® for
Anxiety, Trauma, and Overwhelm

Body-based support for the patterns insight alone hasn’t been able to shift.

Trauma, overwhelm, and anxiety aren’t

just experienced in your thoughts.

They live in your body—in your breath, your muscles, your impulses, and the patterns of your nervous system.

You’ve tried to think your way out of it.
But change doesn’t always come from more thinking.
Sometimes, it comes from feeling your way through.

I work with self-aware people who understand a lot about themselves—but still feel those patterns in their body and nervous system.

You may have done the therapy, read the books, learned the tools, and made sense of your story. But understanding why something happens doesn’t always change what happens in your body when anxiety rises, your system shuts down, or an old protective response takes over.

Somatic Experiencing® offers another way in: working directly with the physiological patterns underneath.

WHO I WORK WITH

Alicia Divers, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner in Brooklyn

MEET ALICIA

I’m Alicia Divers, offering 1:1 sessions in Brooklyn and online for people navigating anxiety, trauma, overwhelm, and patterns that insight alone hasn’t been able to shift.

My work centers on the physiology of the nervous system—how stress, protection, activation, and shutdown show up in the body. In sessions, we slow things down enough to notice what’s happening, work with the body’s responses in manageable ways, and build greater capacity for flexibility, connection, and change.

My approach is warm, relational, and grounded in Somatic Experiencing®, with additional training in mind-body coaching, somatic attachment work, and the Enneagram.

WHAT IS SOMATIC EXPERIENCING®?

A different way of working with what you’re carrying.

Somatic Experiencing® is a body-based approach to stress, trauma, anxiety, and overwhelm. Rather than working only with thoughts and emotions, SE pays attention to how your experiences show up in your body and nervous system.

By slowing down and noticing sensations, impulses, and patterns as they happen, we work with your system at a pace it can manage—helping create more flexibility, capacity, and choice over time.

HOW WE WORK
The Human Capacity Method™.

  • PHASE 01

    Awareness

We begin by recognizing what’s happening in your nervous system—your sensations, impulses, emotions, and familiar protective patterns.

  • PHASE 02

    Recovery

We build greater capacity to move through activation, overwhelm, or shutdown and recover access to yourself.

  • PHASE 03

    Response Flexibility

We work with automatic patterns so you have greater range and choice in how you respond to what happens inside you and around you.

  • PHASE 04

    Integration

We bring that capacity into everyday life, so new ways of responding become increasingly available in the moments that matter.

HOW THIS WORK CAN HELP

You don’t need a diagnosis—or even the perfect words for what’s happening. People come to this work for many reasons.

SOMATIC ENNEAGRAM

The Enneagram offers a map for understanding our familiar patterns of protection, connection, and response. Somatic Enneagram brings that awareness into the body, exploring how those patterns show up in the nervous system and everyday life.

Alicia is a Certified Enneagram Teacher in the Narrative Tradition and integrates the Enneagram into her somatic work when it is useful. Individual Enneagram work, private groups, workshops, and customized teaching experiences are also available by inquiry.

THE EXPERIENCE OF THE WORK

  • "After years of talk therapy, I understood my anxiety logically — but no amount of understanding truly made me feel less anxious. As a very Type A, high-strung person, even considering a modality like this felt entirely left-field to me. I am SO glad I gave it a try. I cannot recommend Alicia's services enough."
    —Bella S

  • "I could intellectually understand my patterns, but it never felt like it fueled genuine change. Working with Alicia triggered, again and again, real lightbulb moments and seeds of actual change. I'm a logical person and initially thought somatic work would be a little too woo-woo for me. If you're in the same boat, give it a try. It's life changing."
    - Maggie F

  • "I tend to intellectualize my emotions — none of the schools of thought in psychotherapy had cracked it for me. Working with Alicia has been a life-changing experience. I am finally reconciling with myself by actually feeling emotions. My breath gets immediately deeper as soon as I see her face."
    - Jisoo H
